How We Collect Text Consent
Blue Skies Mutual Aid sends automated texts only to people who agreed to them. Our staff may also reply to someone who texted us, or text a number given to us so we can help, including a number a family member or partner organization gave us when referring someone. Anyone who hasn't agreed yet gets one text asking first, and automated texts start only after they reply YES. This page shows the exact wording used.

The forms that offer text updates (request help, My Portal, contact us, the Alliance application, the Wishlist Matcher and the sign-up form above) show this optional, unchecked box beside the phone field. Leaving it unchecked never stops the form from being sent. Checking it sends one text asking you to reply YES; texts start only after you do.

Volunteers turn text alerts on in their account settings, which show this:
Text alerts come from Blue Skies Mutual Aid ((432) 201-4598) for the categories where Text is on, including urgent COAD and weather alerts if you sign up for them. We text you once to confirm, and alerts start after you reply YES. Texts other than emergencies only go out from 8 AM to 9 PM Central. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out.
Our One-Time Request
Our number is listed publicly on this website. The first time we reply to or text anyone who hasn't agreed to texts (including someone who texted us first or checked a box on a form), we send this once, and never again:
